AO back on VAR

12 January 2022

The Australian Open is back for 2022. Once again our valued audience right across Australia will be able to hear the action in partnership with AO Radio, as we simulcast the tournament from now until January 30.

Tune in and you’ll hear Rod Laver Arena matches, plus regular score updates from the outside courts, as we broadcast across Vision Australia Radio network along with news, player interviews and more, directly from the presenting team at AO Radio.

How to hear the action daily from Melbourne Park:

  • Adelaide/Melbourne: Tune in to VA IRIS on your digital radio from start of play.
  • Perth: Switch to VA Radio Perth on your digital radio from 4:00pm daily.
  • Darwin: Tune in to VA Radio Darwin on your digital radio from 6:00pm daily.
  • Regional Victoria and Albury: Listen to your local Vision Australia Radio service from 7:00pm.

Outside of the above mentioned time slots, you will be able to hear all our regular programing, and programs taking a break will immediately resume following the Tennis on the 31st of January.

Action Audio is also making the Australian Open accessible to people living with blindness or low vision. Learn more about Action Audio.

For those tuning in to Vision Australia Radio across the country for the first time, we welcome you to our service and we hope you will consider listening to our diverse programing outside of our Australian Open broadcasts. The Vision Australia Radio Network operates to address the information needs of people who are blind, have low vision or a print disability.

600+ volunteers keep the service going strong, across 15 radio services nationwide, with AM radio services in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and seven services in Regional Victoria. There are also five digital radio services. You can support our not for profit community radio network by making a tax deductable donation (over $2) here:

Special thanks to the AO Radioproduction team for partnering with us once again and last by not least the team at Tennis Australia who are working hard to make Tennis inclusive to all Australians.
